I received an obi (kimono sash) and remade it into a bag. A large bag, or rather almost a tote bag. The client works, so she apparently carries a lot of stuff. I borrowed one of her sample bags to discuss all the details she wanted like size, pocket placement, handle length, etc. to make sure the finished bag met her requirements. She was absolutely delighted with how it turned out, and is now looking for another obi to have me make a second one. It truly makes me happy when clients are pleased! I'll do my best on the second bag as well!

帯をお預かりしてバッグをリメイクしました。大きいバッグ、というかほとんどトートバッグ。お仕事をされている方なので、とにかく荷物が多いそうです。
サンプルのバッグもお借りして、大きさ・ポケットの位置・持ち手の長さ等全てご希望に沿えるように打ち合わせをします。
仕上がりをとてもとても喜んで頂き、只今２個目を作成するためにもう一つの帯を探されています。
喜んで頂ける時が本当に嬉しい！２個目も頑張ります！

Heading to the Matisse exhibition at the National Art Center, Tokyo in Nogizaka. It was a large-scale exhibition broadly introducing the works of the great French master Henri Matisse.

I was familiar with his later works, such as the cover art for the literary magazine Bungeishunju. But I was able to see many of his early works that I was completely unaware of, which was really nice.

In the latter part of the exhibition, his famous cut-out works, rich in color, were impressively displayed across the walls - a sight we're all familiar with!

The exhibition runs until May 27th. You might enjoy a visit!

乃木坂・国立新美術館で開催中の『マティス』へ。フランスの巨匠アンリ・マティスの作品を幅広く紹介する大規模な展覧会でした。
私は後期の作品である、文芸春秋の表紙がお馴染みで。全く知らなかった初期のころの作品もたくさん観られてとても良かったです。
会場後半はこれもお馴染みの切り絵作品が色彩も豊かに壁一面に飾られていて圧巻でした！
会期は５月２７日まで。足を運んでみると楽しいかもしれません！

気持ちの良い季節、到来です！
こんな日々にはジャブジャブ洗える綿素材の洋服が着たくなります。
写真は中国藍印花布（ちゅうごくらんいんかふ）という、中国の伝統的な生地です。その中でも手紡ぎ手織りの最上級な生地。もちろん洋服にもなりますし、しっかりした厚みがありますのでバッグや小物にも最適です。
さて、なにを作りましょうか。楽しみです。

The photo shows a Chinese indigo batik fabric, a traditional Chinese fabric. This is the highest quality handspun and handwoven fabric. Of course, it can be used for clothing, but with its sturdy thickness, it is also ideal for bags and accessories.

絽の着物をお預かりして、ショート丈のボレロを２着リメイクしました。
一重の裏無し。夏の暑い時に自転車に乗って着られるように（日除けには最適な素材！）。お洗濯ができるように。着物地でお作りするのは少々もったいない気もしましたが、ご本人のご希望で洗い替えも合わせて２着、用尺ギリギリで作り上げられました。
風が通るように身巾と袖巾もちょっと大き目。本日お渡しできましたが、パリッとしたとても素敵なボレロが仕上がりました。

４月になりました。夏のように暑い日があったり、まだまだ寒い日があったり・・・相変わらず忙しいお天気ですが、桜もほころび始めて確実に春がやってきました！瑠璃門がある桜台はその名のとうり、桜が美しい街です。満開にはまだ時間がかかりそうですが、その前に、先日綺麗な春の花束を頂きました。
ラナンキュラスラックスというお花で、種類が25とうりくらいある花のようです。
気持ちはすっかり春！ありがとうございました。
